This short picture tutorial will take you step by step through the process of sending an email to the members of your section. Before you begin, you will need your IAS Member's Only Website username and password. Your username is the email address you have given to IAS. If you do not remember your password, then contact the IAS Office Manager at iascience@uni.edu or 319-273-2021.
Step 1. Log into the IAS Members Only Website.

This will open the IAS Members Only Website. From here you can view the calendar, bulletin boards, submit an abstract and more. Note: Your website will have menus for Community, Directory, and Abstract Submission 2008 Annual Meeting. It will not have a menu for Admin. Main Page. |

Step 2. Open the Advanced Search Page

There are many search options on this page. Scroll down until you see the IAS section names. Note: Unfortunately, Memberclicks service can not do boolean searches. So keep in mind that if you search for members of "Chemistry" and "Geology" the search engine can only return those people who are members of both sections. This means if you want to email all of the members of both sections, then you must send separate emails to each set of members and that someone who is in both sections will unfortunately get 2 emails. We've asked Memberclicks to update this feature to include boolean logic. |

Step 3. Search for members of your section.

Now you can see that there are 233 members of the Ecology and Conservation Section, including IAS Staff (that is Toni!) Step 4. Open the Contact Center

Step 5. Compose an Email.

There is an open to add an attachment. We recommend that you do not add an attachment because many spam filters will 'kill' an email with an attachment. If you have a file you need to get to your members, email the attachment to the IAS Office ahead of time. We will post it someplace on our website and give you a URL that you can put into the body of the email so that your section members can retrieve the file from the web. You can also choose to send the email at a future date. This is a really cool option. You can compose an email today asking for your members to submit an abstract for the IAS Annual Meeting and send it. Then you can compose a reminder that they only have 1 month to submit and set it to be mailed out on January 8th! Step 6. Send the email.
One more important thing to know. You will recieve a failed email message for everyone in your section who has not provided IAS with an email address and for everyone who's email is bad or set to "out". You can delete all of these messages. Toni and Marcy also get a copy and we have a student worker try to correct any email addresses that are bad. We can not do anything about the members who have not given us addresses, except keep asking them to do so!
