Finalists were announced and presented with a Certificate of Honor at a recognition ceremony on August 18th, 2005. The presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching Program was established by the National Science Foundation to identify outstanding elementary, middle/junior, and senior high school teachers of science and mathematics who can serve as models for their colleagues. Iowa's private sector contributors include KCCI/News Channel 8, Pella Corporation, Science Center of Iowa, Rockwell Collins, Hawkeye Community College, Stanley Consultants, Hy-Vee Food Stores, Mercy Medical Center, EMC Insurance Company, Des Moines Register, Iowa Academy of Science, Meredith Corporation, and ABI Foundation.
